The Desert Edge Scorpions and the Liberty Lions will face off at 2:30 p.m. on December 28th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Desert Edge will be strutting in after a win while Liberty will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Tuesday, the stars were shining brightly for Desert Edge in a 49-35 win over Washington. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Desert Edge.
Jitzabeth Hielo Miles was the offensive standout of the game as she dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that she pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Aysja Ward, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds and seven assists.
Meanwhile, Liberty was beaten by Pinnacle 79-34 last Friday. While losing is never fun, Liberty can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 165th, while Pinnacle is ranked 30th).
Desert Edge's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-6. As for Liberty, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6-1.
Desert Edge came out on top in a nail-biter against Liberty when the teams last played back in December of 2019, sneaking past 38-36. Does Desert Edge have another victory up their sleeve, or will Liberty turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
