The Northwest Guilford Vikings will challenge the Southwest Guilford Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Northwest Guilford has three straight victories, Southwest Guilford has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Northwest Guilford is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Dudley with a sharp 24-4 win on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won eight matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Brady Smith looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Nic Turner was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Quentin Wehrenberg, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs and two RBI.
Northwest Guilford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Southwest Guilford's offense. They came up short against First Colonial on Wednesday, falling 9-0.
Northwest Guilford now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Southwest Guilford, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Northwest Guilford has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Southwest Guilford struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Northwest Guilford's way against Southwest Guilford in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Northwest Guilford made off with a 13-5 victory. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cowboys turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
