The South County Stallion are taking a road trip to face off against the Robinson Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
South County came up short against Lake Braddock on Friday, falling 10-3. That's two games in a row now that the Stallion have lost by exactly seven runs.
South County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexa Meckley, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Robinson made easy work of Fairfax on Friday and carried off an 11-3 victory. Considering the Rams have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Juliet Donovan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Aleaha Burgy and Izzy Covey did most of the damage at the plate: Burgy went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Covey went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three hits gave Covey a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Katie Gibson, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Robinson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
This is the second loss in a row for South County and nudges their season record down to 12-6. As for Robinson, their record now sits at 10-7.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. South County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like Robinson struggles in that department as they've averaged .316. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
South County was able to grind out a solid win over Robinson in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, winning 7-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Stallion since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
