If the Valley Pirates were riding high off their 71-36 takedown of the Greyhills Academy Knights last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Valley was outmatched by the Bruins on the road and fell 91-63. Valley has not had much luck with the Bruins recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Valley lost on Saturday, one person who can't be blamed is Eric Slim. Despite the final result, he scored 34 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Slim has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Etsitty, who scored 15 points.
Valley has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 11 of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season. As for Hopi, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-5.
Valley's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Redskins at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th. St. Johns has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 345 points over their last five matches. As for Hopi, they will be playing at home against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pinon is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
