The Piqua Indians lost against the Troy Trojans back in January of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Piqua fell just short of Troy by a score of 27-25. Piqua has struggled against Troy recently, as their contest on Wednesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Troy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaelynn Smith led the charge by scoring 3 points along with 8 rebounds. Kiyah Baker was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 6 rebounds.
Piqua's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Troy, their win bumped their record up to 1-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Piqua will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Butler at 6:00 p.m. on December 19th. As for Troy, they will head out on the road to face off against Sidney at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday.
