Cross has gone 3-0 against Andrew Jackson Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Cross Stingrays will take on the Andrew Jackson Academy Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Cross was fully in charge, breezing past Thomas Heyward Academy 67-15. The Stingrays have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Ryan Mayers, who almost dropped a triple-double on 28 points, nine boards, and nine steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Cross' points. Reyannah Maldonado was another key player, putting up 16 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.
Cross smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Andrew Jackson Academy beat Jefferson Davis Academy 29-25 on Monday.
Andrew Jackson Academy's win came from a few key players Cross will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Rileigh Barnes, who posted eight points along with eight boards and six steals. Another player making a difference was McKinnley Beard, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds.
Cross is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Andrew Jackson Academy, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Cross has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 33.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Andrew Jackson Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.7 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Cross strolled past Andrew Jackson Academy in their previous matchup on January 10th by a score of 50-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cross since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
