Alijah Adem was on fire: he shot 7-for-10 from deep and dropped a double-double on 35 points and 10 assists. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Spring Valley's points. Jamo Mccall was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 3 steals.
Meanwhile, Bishop Gorman waltzed into Saturday's matchup with two straight wins but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 53-39 victory over Jesuit. Given Bishop Gorman's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked first in Nevada, while Jesuit is ranked 214th in California), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Spring Valley's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Bishop Gorman, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
Things could have been worse for Spring Valley, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 75-59 loss to Bishop Gorman in their previous meeting back in January of 2020. Can Spring Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
