The Caliche Buffaloes have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They received a tough blow on Thursday as they fell 59-43 to Wray. Caliche lost against Wray in their previous head to head back in February of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 64-19 score last time.
Caliche lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Karsyn Huss, who scored 12 points. Ava Hernandez was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Among those leading the charge was Sharon Greek, who scored 12 points along with two steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydnee Cheek, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Caliche's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3. As for Wray, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Caliche will face off against Merino at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Merino will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line. As for Wray, they will head out on the road to challenge Holyoke at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Holyoke focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Friday.
