Mater Dei Catholic and Chula Vista pushed the score to 45-14 the last time they played Chula Vista, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Crusaders simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Spartans 27-0. That looming 27-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Crusaders yet this season.

Mater Dei Catholic was led to victory by Victor Voneiff and Jordan Dumaran. Voneiff threw for 129 yards and one touchdown while completing 75% of his passes, while Dumaran gained 92 total yards. Those 129 passing yards gave Voneiff a new career-high.

Mater Dei Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. As for Chula Vista, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-6.
