Desert Chapel extended their winning streak to eight games thanks to a huge performance from Jayvon Garcia. The Desert Chapel Eagles walked away with a 54-46 win over the Palm Valley FIREBIRDS on Tuesday thanks in part to Garcia, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards. His evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.
Another player making a difference was Samuel Mourhess, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. That's the most points he has posted since back in February of 2024.
Palm Valley's loss came despite strong showings from Alex Ratner and Deshawn Tunmore. Ratner dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 boards, while Tunmore posted 19 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Ratner is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. Matteo Lam was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to seven assists and five steals.
Desert Chapel's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-2. As for Palm Valley, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Desert Chapel Eagles challenge the Desert Hot Springs Golden Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Palm Valley, they will be playing at home against Noli Indian at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
