The La Salle Academy Rams will take on the St. Anthony's Friars at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as La Salle Academy comes in on 35 and St. Anthony's on eight.
La Salle Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: East Providence, who was ranked 13th at the time (La Salle Academy was ranked second). The Rams were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Townies on Wednesday. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by seven runs or more this season.
Gia Dennino looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, La Salle Academy got a massive performance out of Phoenyx Silva, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Silva is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Sophia Morgan also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
La Salle Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, St. Anthony's got themselves on the board against Morris Catholic on Thursday, but Morris Catholic never followed suit. They came out on top against the Crusaders by a score of 5-0.
The result came thanks to Melissa Gordon's shutout, as she gave up just three hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sophia Lee, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Martinez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and two RBI.
St. Anthony's victory was their 23rd straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for La Salle Academy, their record is now 10-0.
Both La Salle Academy and St. Anthony's just can't seem to miss. The Rams have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.5 hits per game. However, it's not like St. Anthony's struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
