Softball Recap: Central Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. Everything went their way against the Lincoln Park Academy Greyhounds on Wednesday as they made off with a 23-15 win. Considering the Cobras have won four matches by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

DESTINY BRANDENBURG and MIKALA KANE did most of the damage at the plate: BRANDENBURG scored three runs while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances, while KANE got on base in four of her six plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave BRANDENBURG a new career-high in hits (four). Another player making a difference was AVA SPARKMAN, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .680. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Central's victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Lincoln Park Academy, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8-1.

Coming up, Central will challenge Martin County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cobras' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 10.5 runs per game this season. As for Lincoln Park Academy, they will square off against Vero Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
