Given Macomb's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while Illini West is ranked 351st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Illini West lost, one person who can't be blamed is Colby Robertson. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points along with four steals. Robertson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Carlisle, who scored 12 points.
Illini West struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Macomb pushed their record up to 15-4 with that win, which was their 21st straight at home. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 23.67 points. As for Illini West, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.
Macomb will head out on the road to challenge Bushnell-Prairie City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Illini West, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Quincy Notre Dame at 7:30 p.m.
