Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Genoa-Hugo/Karval to victory, but perhaps none more so than Haley Ewing, who scored 10 points. Amy James was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, Arickaree couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 37-24 to Briggsdale on Saturday. Arickaree has not had much luck with Briggsdale recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Arickaree's defeat came about despite a quality game from RAEYA SCHROCK, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of LILLY MONAT, who scored 2 points.
The win got Genoa-Hugo/Karval back to even at 1-1. As for Arickaree, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Things could have been worse for Genoa-Hugo/Karval, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 45-27 loss to Arickaree in their previous meeting back in December of 2022.
