There's no place like home for the Anderson County Bearcats, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 66-53 victory over Mercer County on Thursday. Given Anderson County's advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while the Titans are ranked 80th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Mercer County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ak Drakeford. Despite the final result, she scored 32 points along with six assists and three steals. That was a full 60.4% of Mercer County's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzie Carlton, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Anderson County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-2 record this season. As for Mercer County, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.
Anderson County will head out on the road to challenge the Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mercer County, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Colts at 7:30 p.m.
