The Central Heights Vikings pushed their score all the way to 61 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Iola by a score of 64-61. Central Heights was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Iola apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Despite the loss, Central Heights still got an impressive performance from Ethan Rowan, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds. Laiken Brockus was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Among those leading the charge was Landon Weide, who scored 22 points along with nine assists and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cortland Carson, who scored 18 points.
Central Heights' loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Iola, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Central Heights will stay at home for another game and welcome Lebo at 8:00 p.m. on December 7th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Lebo is ranked 186th, while Central Heights is ranked 173rd). Iola is on the road again on Thursday and play against Kansas City Christian School.
