The Hamilton Big Blue will head out on the road to square off against the Ross Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Hamilton's victory against Sycamore wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Big Blue sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Aviators on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Big Blue in their matchups with the Aviators: they've now won four in a row.
Meanwhile, Ross came tearing into Monday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Cougars. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.
Paige Baker made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Meadow Webb, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Olivia Powers was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Ross was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Edgewood only posted a batting average of .120.
Ross' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hamilton, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Hamilton was able to grind out a solid win over Ross in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, winning 5-2. Do the Big Blue have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
