The Rocky Mount Gryphons pushed their score all the way to 69 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Roanoke Rapids by a score of 71-69. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Tuesday (68), Rocky Mount still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Rocky Mount lost, one person who can't be blamed is Anthony Jones. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 24 points and 16 rebounds. Jones is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last nine games he's played. Another player making a difference was Emanauel Battle, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Rocky Mount and nudges their season record down to 3-10. As for Roanoke Rapids, they pushed their record up to 8-5 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rocky Mount will take on Bunn at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
