Meanwhile, Worthington Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 52-44 to Columbus Academy.
Worthington Christian's defeat came about despite a quality game from Samuel Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 11 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonah Lewis, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Buckeye Valley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season. As for Worthington Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-4.
Buckeye Valley ended up a good deal behind Worthington Christian in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, losing 73-56. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Johnson, who scored 28 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
