Basketball Recap: Parris Prep Academy Takes a Loss

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 86-53, which was the final score in the Parris Prep Academy Panthers's tilt against the Word of God Christian Academy National Holy Rams on Saturday.

Parris Prep Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Garrett Morgan, who posted 17 points, and Ethan Pack, who had 16 points. The matchup was Morgan's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominique Downs, who earned five points.

Word of God Christian Academy National's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marcus Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 15 rebounds. Jackson continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Prince Nwokemodo, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds.

Parris Prep Academy now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Word of God Christian Academy National, their victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Parris Prep Academy Panthers challenge the Legacy Prep Lions at 7:00 p.m. on January 13th. Parris Prep Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.9 points per game this season. As for Word of God Christian Academy National, they will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against Lab University Prep National at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Lab University Prep National's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
