The Milan Indians will venture away from home to take on the Brownstown Central Braves at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Milan knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Brownstown Central likes a good challenge.
On Friday, Milan got the win against Jac-Cen-Del by a conclusive 18-2. Considering the Indians have won 13 contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Kayleigh McIntosh was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. McIntosh was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Milan got a massive performance out of Kynadee Bode, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and three RBI. That's the most runs Bode has posted since back in March. Mallory Eaglin was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Brownstown Central beat North Harrison 4-1 on Thursday. The Braves haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Shyla Steele spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Brooke Meahl was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Shaylie Steele also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Milan has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Brownstown Central, their record is now 10-12.
