Baseball Recap: Lake Region Beats Community School of Naples for Their Sixth Straight Victory

Lake Region had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Community School of Naples on Friday. The Thunder never let the Seahawks get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. Considering the Thunder have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Josh Jenkins, who gave up just four hits to keep Community School of Naples off the board. Jenkins also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lake Region is 6-3 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 5-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Yadiel Echeverria, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Gage Calcutt, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Lake Region always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Community School of Naples only posted an OBP of .259.

The win was the sixth in a row for Lake Region, bringing their record up to 11-9. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Community School of Naples, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season.

Lake Region will take on Lake Wales in a tournament on Tuesday. As for Community School of Naples, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Evangelical Christian at 7:00 p.m.
