Meanwhile, Advanced Math & Science Academy faced Maynard in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Eagles' pitcher stepped up to hand the Tigers a 7-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
The result came thanks to Ava McLeod's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Brooke Laudate and Madelyn Glynn did most of the damage at the plate: Laudate went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Glynn went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that Glynn has hit this season. Sophia Hammell was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
Advanced Math & Science Academy's win was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Notre Dame Academy, their record is now 10-1.
Both Notre Dame Academy and Advanced Math & Science Academy just can't seem to miss. The Rebels have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Advanced Math & Science Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.1 hits.
