Howard Tech hasn't had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 55-52 victory over the Randolph-Clay Red Devils on Wednesday.
Randolph-Clay's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyrion Smith, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine boards. Smith is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 16 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rae'Shawn Clyde, who posted eight points and eight rebounds.
Howard Tech's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Randolph-Clay, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.
Howard Tech has already played their next game, a 52-36 loss against East Ridge on the 2nd. As for Randolph-Clay, they will be playing at home against Stewart County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
