It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Joel Barlow Falcons ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against New Milford and snuck past 54-51. The win was some much needed relief for Joel Barlow as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Defeat or not, New Milford got some senior leadership from Ryan Esposito who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds and Jack Balzi who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals. Esposito scored a full 27.5% of New Milford's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Joel Barlow's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-7. As for New Milford, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Joel Barlow will take on Bethel at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Bethel is ranked 128th, while Joel Barlow is ranked 148th). As for New Milford, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Pomperaug at 7:00 p.m.
