Softball Recap: Alpaugh Comes Up Short

Alpaugh had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 4-9 to make it four. They fell just short of the Laton Mustangs by a score of 16-15. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, with their most recent loss being a 30-14 defeat two weeks ago.

Alpaugh got a massive performance out of Jazmin Juarez, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. Juarez is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Catalyn Clemenson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with five stolen bases and one run.

As for Laton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-11-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.3 runs over those games.

On Laton's side, the team relied heavily on Camila Figueroa, who went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, two triples, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases Figueroa has posted since back in March of 2025. Jaylene Zazueta was another key player, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.

Alpaugh wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 19-9 win against Kings Christian on the 5th. As for Laton, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 26-10 victory against Wonderful College Prep Academy on the 5th.
