The Orchard Farm Eagles fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Mater Dei Knights on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Knights 62-58. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Orchard Farm came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 102nd in Missouri, while Mater Dei is ranked 206th in Illinois).
Mater Dei was led to victory by Nick Lampe and Drake Wagner. Lampe scored 20 points along with five rebounds, while Wagner scored 30 points. Wagner continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Luke Haake, who scored five points.
Orchard Farm's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Mater Dei, their win bumped their record up to 7-8.
Orchard Farm won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bowen at 2:00 p.m. on December 30th. As for Mater Dei, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Mascoutah at 5:30 p.m. on December 30th.
