The South Panola Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 69-55 to Palmer. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
South Panola's loss came despite strong showings from Cameron Griffin and Demartric Houston. Griffin dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Houston dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Keylan Bibbs, who scored six points.
Even though they lost, South Panola were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. This was only their eighth loss (out of ten games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
South Panola's loss was their seventh straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-11. As for Palmer, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Panola will challenge Caldwell County at 8:15 p.m. on Friday. Palmer will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Ingomar at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
