Two dominant players in Ashton Billings and Wade Brashears are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Altamonte Christian Eagles and the Lake Mary Prep Griffins will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Altamonte Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. Their rough 84-61 loss to Lake Howell might stick with them for a while. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Altamonte Christian has suffered since December 12, 2023.
Altamonte Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Billings, who scored 26 points along with five rebounds, and Ryan Almeda who scored 16 points. Billings continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Goss Jr., who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lake Mary Prep's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They came out on top against Calvary Christian Academy by a score of 70-57.
Altamonte Christian bumped their record down to 10-7 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Lake Mary Prep, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Everything came up roses for Altamonte Christian against Lake Mary Prep in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 71-36 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Altamonte Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
