On Friday, Rock Hills took a serious blow against Axtell, falling 68-31. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Rock Hills has scored all season.
Eli Whelchel and Cooper McDill certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Whelchel scored nine points along with seven rebounds, while McDill scored 11 points along with six rebounds. The match was McDill's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cam Ward, who scored five points.
Rock Hills struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Rock Hills now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Axtell, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with that win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rock Hills will be home for the holidays to greet Ellis at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Ellis focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday. Axtell will be home for the holidays to greet Wabaunsee at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wabaunsee will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 245th, while Axtell is ranked 80th).
