The Long Beach Bearcats will head out to challenge the Purvis Tornadoes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Long Beach lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Bay, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's contest. The Bearcats put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 12-2 win on Friday. The Bearcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Landon Carden spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits.
On the hitting side, SJ Valentine and Walker Cooke did most of the damage at the plate: Valentine went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Cooke went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Cooke has posted since back in April of 2025. Dax Arkin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Long Beach was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Purvis came tearing into Saturday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Bobcats get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. That's two games straight that the Tornadoes have won by exactly four runs.
The result came thanks to Kade Lawler's shutout, as he gave up just five hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Purvis' win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Hudson Walker, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. Walker is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
Long Beach's record now sits at 2-9. As for Purvis, their record is now 8-2.
