Aurora Central has not had much luck with Adams City recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Aurora Central's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jamaea Johnson Gonzalez, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds, and Alayna McClain who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals. McClain is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Nijaha Davis was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Adams City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Morgan Williams, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. Williams is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last ten games she's played. Another player making a difference was Fernanda Hernandez, who almost dropped a triple-double on nine points, ten rebounds, and 12 steals.
Aurora Central's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.3 points per game. As for Adams City, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 4-8 record this season.
Aurora Central will head out on the road to face off against Hinkley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hinkley comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last ten games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Adams City, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Gateway at 6:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Gateway is ranked 276th, while Adams City is ranked 255th).
