Basketball Recap: South Pointe Falls Despite Big Games from Lee Reed and Dasaan Schaeffer

South Pointe lost against East Valley Athletes for Christ back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The South Pointe Griffins fell 67-54 to the East Valley Athletes for Christ Eagles. The Griffins have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

South Pointe's loss came despite strong showings from Dasaan Schaeffer and Lee Reed. Schaeffer posted 24 points, while Reed earned 18 points. The matchup was Schaeffer's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Zyion Brown, who had six points.

Anthony Sorensen went supernova for East Valley Athletes for Christ, going 10 of 15 en route to 25 points. Those 25 points gave Sorensen a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Sorensen, who put up eight points along with six boards and three steals.

South Pointe suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 5-2. As for East Valley Athletes for Christ, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1.

South Pointe will venture away from home to square off against Heritage Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for East Valley Athletes for Christ, they will host Mission Heights Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
