The Verrado Vipers will face off against the North Canyon Rattlers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Verrado knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully North Canyon likes a good challenge.
On Tuesday, Verrado beat San Luis 12-9. With that victory, the Vipers brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Colton Zacher and Nolan Raissle made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Zacher pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and eight unearned) runs off nine hits. Meanwhile, Raissle pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Zacher has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Zacher got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Raissle got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one triple and one run. That's the most runs Zacher has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eli Bebleh, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Bode Acton was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Verrado was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .393 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, North Canyon might've scored the first runs on Friday, but it was Vista Grande who claimed the real prize. The Rattlers came up short against the Spartans, falling 13-3. The loss continues a trend for the Rattlers in their meetings with the Spartans: they've now lost three in a row.
North Canyon also got a good showing from Eli Villarreal, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Villarreal also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Rattlers are 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-5 otherwise.
On the hitting side, North Canyon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was JORGE CORDERO, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Verrado is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for North Canyon, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
