The Santee Warriors posted their biggest win since December 9, 2023 on Friday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 80-30 win over St. Edward. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 55-17.
When it comes to explaining why St. Edward lost, one person who can't be blamed is Anthony Reader. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with two steals. That was a full 53.3% of St. Edward's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Marcos Paez, who scored four points.
The win was the third in a row for Santee, bringing their record for this year to 8-3. As for St. Edward, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-8.
Santee will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. Mary's at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. St. Mary's is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. After both having extra time off, St. Edward and Fullerton will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. Hopefully Fullerton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Friday.
