Little Kanawha recap Nov. 7, 2012
St. Marys extended the longest winning streak in Little Kanawha this week by beating Doddridge County, 40-12. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Williamstown was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Yellowjackets triumphed over Roane County 41-7.
TREVOR SHEPLER and JESSIE HILVERS gave Ritchie County a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. SHEPLER threw for 45 yards and one touchdown, while HILVERS ran for 138 yards. DEVON JONES also contributed to the rushing game with 61 yards on the ground.
Daniel Plaugher was the best wideout in the league this week as the Bulldogs fell to St. Marys. Plaugher tallied five receptions for 60 yards. Devin Anderson helped Doddridge County's passing attack out by catching five balls for 58 yards.
5-foot-11 quarterback Joshua Trembly of Wirt County is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1400. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. On the ground, Doddridge County's Wyatt Ford has rushed for 967 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is DYLAN FRYE. The Ritchie County star has 33 catches for 486 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place St. Marys takes on second place Wirt County. Last week, the Blue Devils bested Bobby Burnside's team, while the Tigers beat South Harrison.
The Rebels took down Grafton 63-13 last week, the largest margin of any game. HILVERS in the win.
