The Brownfield Cubs lost against the Idalou Wildcats back in February of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Brownfield was dealt a 69-25 defeat at the hands of Idalou. While losing is never fun, Brownfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1011th, while Idalou is ranked 63rd).
Brownfield's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Alliey Coffey, who scored nine points along with five rebounds, and Mariah Perez who scored two points along with three blocks. Perez also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kk Fininen, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Brownfield has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Idalou, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5.
Brownfield has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Coahoma at 7:30 p.m. on December 7th. Coahoma has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 390 points over their last six games. Idalou won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Sunray at 9:00 a.m. on December 8th. Hopefully Sunray focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Thursday.
