The Beallsville Blue Devils will face off against the Belpre Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Beallsville has now lost nine straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 17.
Beallsville fell victim to Conotton Valley and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Rockets, falling 19-0.
Meanwhile, Belpre was able to grind out a solid win over Nelsonville-York on Friday, taking the game 9-4. That's two games straight that the Golden Eagles have won by exactly five runs.
Ryan Owens made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Belpre let Carson Woodford and Chris Copen run wild. Woodford went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Copen went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two RBI gave Woodford a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chase Maze, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Belpre kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
The victory made it two in a row for Belpre and bumps their season record up to 6-11. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Beallsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-15.
Beallsville might still be hurting after the 20-3 loss they got from Belpre when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Blue Devils have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
