Softball Recap: North Newton Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

North Newton waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They had just enough and edged out the South Newton Rebels 2-0. The Spartans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rebels, too.

The team relied heavily on Caylee Oxley, who went 1-for-2 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Riley Higgins, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

North Newton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Newton struck out 14 times.

North Newton's win bumped their record up to 16-3-1. As for South Newton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

North Newton will take on West Central at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for South Newton, they will face off against Fountain Central at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rebels are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
