Kate Skinner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Liberty's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kelsie Skaggs, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Liberty hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Foothill struck out 11 times.
Meanwhile, Casa Grande owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Livermore with a sharp 9-0 victory. The Gauchos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by nine runs or more this season.
Lila Partridge made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Partridge was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Alex Giacomini and Lauren Ketchu did most of the damage at the plate: Giacomini went 3-for-5 with one stolen base and two RBI, while Ketchu went 4-for-5 with two RBI and one run. That's the most hits Giacomini has posted since back in April of 2024. Maeve Broadhead was another key player, earning three runs and two stolen bases.
Liberty pushed their record up to 22-5 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Casa Grande, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-5-1 record this season.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Liberty hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .387. However, it's not like Casa Grande struggles in that department as they've averaged .326. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
