Eastlake and Eastwood are an even 3-3 against one another since October of 2018, but not for long. The Falcons will square off against the Troopers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Eastlake will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
On Friday, Eastlake strolled past Montwood with points to spare, taking the game 61-47.
Julian Williams produced another solid performance throwing for 296 yards and four TDs while completing 86.4% of his passes, and also rushing for 111 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries. Ethan Rivera made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eastwood). They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Socorro 49-13. The victory continues a trend for the Troopers in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won nine in a row.
Eastwood's win came from a few key players Eastlake will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kingston Jeffries, who threw for 216 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.7% of his passes, and also rushed for 41 yards. Michael Torres was Jeffries' top target, picking up 131 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Eastwood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 212 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 212 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.
Eastwood didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Matthew Yarbrough and Noah Williams. Williams got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Eastwood's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Eastlake, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Williams and Jeffries. Williams just won't slow down this season and has thrown 13 touchdowns while averaging 238 passing yards per game. Jeffries has been a dominant force too and has thrown 10 touchdowns while averaging 162 passing yards per game.
Everything went Eastlake's way against Eastwood in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Eastlake made off with a 49-28 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Troopers' Jayden Martinez, who picked up 95 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 72 yards and one score. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Falcons to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
