Baseball Recap: Houston Has No Trouble Against Caledonia

Houston barely beat Caledonia the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Houston blew past Caledonia 13-3 on Friday. The Hilltoppers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.

Cayden Box was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Box was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Cam Kilgore was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Adam Smith, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Houston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Caledonia only posted an OBP of .296.

The win made it two in a row for Houston and bumps their season record up to 9-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Caledonia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.

Looking ahead, Houston will host Eupora at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Caledonia, they are taking a road trip to challenge West Point at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
