Baseball Recap: Ysleta Makes It Seven in a Row at Home

With a playoff win on the line, Ysleta rose to the challenge on Friday. Everything went their way against the San Elizario Eagles as they made off with a 14-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won 18 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Adry Botello tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.

At the plate, Ysleta let Angel Flores and Octavio Sanchez run wild. Flores got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Sanchez went 1-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs Sanchez has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Santiago Osorio, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs.

Ysleta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .545 or higher in five consecutive matchups.

Ysleta's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-13. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games. As for San Elizario, they are on a 17-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-23.

Ysleta will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
