The McKeel Academy Wildcats suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. Their rough 43-22 defeat to George Jenkins might stick with them for a while. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points McKeel Academy has scored all season.
McKeel Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Skyelar Smith, who scored five points along with five rebounds and three steals. Smith hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Malayna Sheffield was another key contributor, scoring two points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.
Taylor Gibson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for George Jenkins, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Gibson hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Marykate Benham, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds.
McKeel Academy bumped their record down to 9-9 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for George Jenkins, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McKeel Academy will take on Discovery at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for George Jenkins, George Jenkins and Bartow will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Bartow will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 509th, while George Jenkins is ranked 250th).
