The Concord Academy Eagles pushed their score all the way to 71 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 81-71 to Asheville Christian Academy. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Thursday (65), Concord Academy still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Concord Academy still got an impressive performance from Sean Birmingham, who shot 4-for-7 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 27 points and 10 rebounds. Birmingham scored a full 38% of Concord Academy's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Lincoln Raper, who scored 11 points.
Concord Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Asheville Christian Academy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Concord Academy will take on Gaston Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gaston Christian will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for Asheville Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Victory Christian Center at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Victory Christian Center presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Asheville Christian Academy in North Carolina (Victory Christian Center is ranked 11th, while Asheville Christian Academy is ranked 86th).
