Baseball Recap: Hatley Beats Calhoun City for Their Third Straight Win

Hatley entered their tilt with Calhoun City on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Wildcats. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Wildcats back in February, they had to take a 3-0 defeat.

Tristan Hendrix was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan George, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Hatley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .560. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .560 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Hatley pushed their record up to 12-13 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Calhoun City, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-16.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hatley will venture away from home to challenge Walnut at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Calhoun City, they will head out to square off against Choctaw County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
