Gananda Central is a perfect 4-0 against Bloomfield since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Blue Panthers will head out to face off against the Bombers at 4:45 p.m. Gananda Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.
East Rochester hit Gananda Central with a four-run second inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Blue Panthers fell 7-4 to the Bombers. The game marked the Blue Panthers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.
Henry Shutts put in work no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Shutts wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Maddox Stoughton, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Stoughton has hit this season. Anthony DAgostino was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Bloomfield earned an 8-3 victory over Haverling on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bombers.
Like Gananda Central, Bloomfield also got a great game from a two-way player: Morgan McLaughlin. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. McLaughlin was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Bloomfield got a massive performance out of Gunner Vogel, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs Vogel has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Levi Gumaer, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double.
Gananda Central's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-2. As for Bloomfield, their record now sits at 2-0.
Gananda Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Bloomfield in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
