Benicia scored the most points they've had this season on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 90-81 to the Northgate Broncos. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 367th, while the Broncos are ranked 139th).

Northgate found their leader in sophomore Rufus Lee, who went 8 of 19 on his way to 29 points in addition to six boards and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lee has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nico Martin, who posted 11 points along with eight assists and seven boards.

Benicia's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Northgate, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-4.

Benicia will venture away from home to face off against College Park at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. College Park is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.6 points per game this season. As for Northgate, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Concord at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
