Jay County is 10-0 against Heritage since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Jay County Patriots on the road again and play against the Heritage Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. One thing working in Jay County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
Jay County put the finishing touches on their 11th blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 60-36 margin over Delta. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Jay County has posted since December 14, 2023.
Jay County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isabella Denton led the charge by scoring 16 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Denton scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Muhlenkamp, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Meanwhile, Heritage's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their 12th straight loss. They were outmatched by Bluffton at home and fell 60-26. While losing is never fun, Heritage can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 374th, while Bluffton is ranked 107th).
Jay County pushed their record up to 18-2 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Heritage, their loss dropped their record down to 1-17.
Everything came up roses for Jay County against Heritage when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 65-26 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jay County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
