Cameron hasn't had much luck against Madonna recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Dragons will be playing at home against the Blue Dons at 5:30 p.m. Cameron will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Cameron couldn't beat Trinity Christian on Tuesday even though they stacked six runs on them in the fifth inning. The Dragons fell 15-10 to the Warriors.
Edie Hartley and Baylee Long stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hartley went 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles, while Long went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and two RBI. Those doubles were Long's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Thomas, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Madonna had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Red Knights as they made off with a 10-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Blue Dons, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Kendal Ryan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Ryan was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madison Owens, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-2. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Peyton Conley was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Madonna always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .522. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Toronto only posted an OBP of .222.
Madonna's victory bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Cameron, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cameron hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Madonna struggles in that department as they've averaged .375. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cameron came up short against Madonna in their previous meeting back in March, falling 10-5. Will the Dragons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
